3.4.5. Evaluating ‘Compensation’

Last update: June 2023

It is expected that offset measures implemented as a project is developed will be monitored to ensure their efficiency and the information provided will enable corrective measures to be taken if required.

The monitoring of compensatory measures still lacks implementation of standardised protocols, including type, frequency, materials, human resources, and the expected results and the costs of the measures. Expert input is necessary to better frame this phase, which is often imprecise and insufficiently scientifically rigorous to produce relevant results that are comparable between projects. The measurement of the efficiency compensation measures based on monitoring is developed in Chapter 6 – Evaluation and monitoring.
